Editorial policy
Eastern Music Journal aims to make engaging, dependable writing about music without pretending that complex traditions can be reduced to easy answers. We value clear explanations, grounded language and fair treatment of the subjects and people discussed.
Accuracy and care
We check factual statements against suitable sources and distinguish description from interpretation. We take care with names, terms, translations and claims about musical traditions. When information is uncertain, incomplete or contested, our wording should make that clear rather than disguise the limits.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a condition of a commercial arrangement. A partner does not receive control over our conclusions or the right to present promotional copy as independent editorial work.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us with the relevant article and detail. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted, making meaningful changes clear to readers rather than quietly leaving a known error in place.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is labelled so readers can recognise its nature. Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence; where that applies, we identify them clearly and do not present an illustration as documentary evidence.
