Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about music across eastern traditions and places. A useful proposal starts with a specific question or listening detail and gives readers a clear reason to spend time with it.

What to pitch

Ideas may explore an instrument, a musical form, a listening custom or the relationship between sound and place. We value focused subjects that can be handled accurately and with respect, especially when the proposal explains what makes this particular angle distinct.

A strong proposal

Tell us the working idea, the central point you hope to make, the likely shape of the piece and any sources or relevant experience that support the proposed approach. Do not send a finished article unless requested. Avoid broad claims about entire regions or communities, and make clear where interpretation or uncertainty is involved.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include enough detail for us to understand the subject and approach; we cannot promise acceptance or a particular response time.
